After working various jobs Al began his Federal Public Service career by what is now known as Human Resources Development Canada from 1960 until retirement in 1986.
Al made considerable volunteer contributions to the Canadian Diabetes Association since 1972 through strong leadership and enthusiasm. His involvement and commitment in the International Association of Personnel in Employment Security (IAPES) allowed travel to many Canadian and USA cities and formed lifetime friendships. Al was an active member of Trinity Anglican Church serving faithfully on many Boards and committees.
