Allen Dale Sheffer, 66, of Staunton passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016 at his home.
Born August 29, 1950 in Harrisonburg, VA, he was the son of Gertrude (Marshall) Sheffer and the late Galen Sheffer.
Allen was a faithful employee of Hershey Chocolate of Virginia, Inc. for over 20 years where he worked in the shipping department prior to his retirement in 2012. He enjoyed match target shooting and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his two children, Nathan Sheffer and companion, Farha Quadri of Staunton and Brittany Sheffer and fiancé, Dusty Noel, Jr. of Churchville; sister, Donna (Sheffer) Tinsley of Verona; grandchildren, Preston Elkins, Evan Sheffer and Hannah Noel; niece, Holly Tinsley; four great nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2016 at the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 18 W. Frederick St.

I had the pleasurable opportunity to meet Al just a few years ago, at Piney Hill for a shooting match being held there, it was my first time there and Al was the first to welcome me and extended a friendship I will hold for my lifetime. I and other fellow shooters will miss him, but will think of him often.
