Allen M. Mullen, Sr., "Peeps," 96, of Jackson, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2013, at home, surrounded by his family. Allen was born Oct. 29, 1916 in Philadelphia, PA. He moved to Linden, NJ in 1925. While attending Linden High, he played on the 1934 undefeated/untied/unscored upon football team. Allen was a general foreman on the assembly line at General Motors-Linden Plant, where they built cars & during the war, built planes. He worked there for 18 years until 1955, while living in Linden & Clark, NJ. He then moved to Ortley Beach, NJ where he opened a bakery and also started his trucking company,...
Allen M. Mullen, Sr., "Peeps," 96, of Jackson, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2013, at home, surrounded by his family. Allen was born Oct. 29, 1916 in Philadelphia, PA. He moved to Linden, NJ in 1925.

While attending Linden High, he played on the 1934 undefeated/untied/unscored upon football team.

Allen was a general foreman on the assembly line at General Motors-Linden Plant, where they built cars & during the war, built planes. He worked there for 18 years until 1955, while living in Linden & Clark, NJ.

He then moved to Ortley Beach, NJ where he opened a bakery and also started his trucking company, A. Mullen Trucking. In 1965, Allen moved to Jackson to expand his trucking business. He was a member of both Garden State Movers & New Jersey Motor Truck Assoc. Allen loved his family, his work, animals, sunshine & the water.

He was predeceased by his father & mother, Harold & Louis (née Roll) Mullen; and his sister, Thelma Spolowitz.

Surviving is his wife, Janet; a son & daughter-in-law, Allen & Dolores of Toms River; a son, John of W. Palm Beach, FL; a daughter, Kathleen Noll of Jackson; 5 grandchildren: Christina, Michael and his wife Lisa, John, Lauren & Veronica; 8 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Allen will be held at D'Elia Funeral Home, Rte. 70 & Vermont Ave., Lakewood, on Wednesday at 7:30PM.
