Mr. Alonzo Brown, age 72, of Scalf, Kentucky passed away Friday, August 3, 2012 in the UK Medical Center in Lexington, KY. He was the son of Colson and Gracie (Sizemore) Brown born to them on May 24, 1940 in Knox Co., KY. Mr. Brown was a member of the Salt Gum Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his former wife Florence Brown, his parents, Colson and Gracie Brown, three brothers, Isaac Brown, Frank Brown and Dexter Brown and five sisters, Sudie Crawford, Myrtle Messer, Ollie Smith, Lorene Jackson and Verna Clouse.
He leaves behind two sons, Joseph Brown of Lafollette, TN and Alonzo Brown Jr. of Barbourville, four daughters, Kathy King and Susan Swanson both of Gray, Patty Lowe of Barbourville, and Angela Barrett of Corbin, two sisters, Mossie Ianone of Louisville, and Linda Bailey of Corbin, Kentucky, thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Alonzo Brown will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2012 in the Hampton Funeral Home with Rev. Chester Sizemore and Rev. Owen Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be family & friends. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery at Scalf, KY. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the Hampton Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday evening and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
