Alta Medley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 10, 2014.

In loving memory of Alta Mae Medley who left us on April 9, 2014. She will be greatly missed and all those whose lives she touched will remember her kindness, joy and compassion. She was born to Ernest and Alta Nora Williams on June 26, 1921 in Marion, Kansas. Her early years were spent on a farm in Kansas and she later moved with her family to Socorro, New Mexico where she met and married Joe Medley. She moved to Foresthill in 1945 where she became an integral part of the community. She worked for the school system for 35 years as the head of the grammar school cafeteria and was known for her ability to create delicious and nutritious food while staying under budget. When Alta retired, she and Joe moved to Auburn to be closer to their family. One of her greatest joys in life was spending time with her family. She is survived by her 2 children, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren all who are grateful to have known her and who will miss her always. At Alta's request, no services will be held.

Bonnie Forsythe-Bonilla

We moved to California in 1951. Mrs Medley was the school cook. She opened up a world of food for me and many others. The perfect meal. Her chile beans, cornbread, and cherry pie! The other schools sports teams loved coming to Foresthill because they knew that would be served after the game! We loved her, she will be missed.
