Alva Nell Hill Rice passed away Wednesday morning, October 12, 2016, at Carolinas Medical Center-University. She was 83 years old.
A native of Caroleen, North Carolina, Alva was a daughter of the late Drew Howard Hill and Birdie Taylor Hill. She retired as a secretary in the juvenile court system. Alva was a member of Grace Crossing Baptist Fellowship, formerly Shamrock Drive Baptist Church. Her love and devotion to her husband, Jimmy was special. They did everything together as a pair. In addition to her parents and husband, Alva was preceded in death by her son, Mark, and three sisters, Gertie Cothran, Barbara London, and Odessal Wallace.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Karen Rice; two sisters, Violet Kelly and Birdie McLaughlin; and one grandson, Zach Rice.
