His first job after graduation was with the Fort Worth District Corps of Engineers where he was assigned to work at NASA. He then transferred to San Antonio, Texas to work at Kelly Air Force Base. Andres continued his work at Kelly AFB as a Professional Engineer for over 23 years until he retired in 1991. After his retirement, Andres fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning his own construction company, AE Construction, Inc. He retired from his business in 2003. Andres was also an avid hunter, rancher and Santa Gertrudis cattle breeder, where he tended his cattle at his ranches in Elmendorf and Gonzales for over 40 years. He loved the outdoors and always took time to take his family on camping trips to Garner State Park and drives through the Texas Hill Country and the Rio Grande Valley.
