NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Andrew Fertie Armentor, Sr., age 81, at 10:00 am Monday, October, 15, 2012 at St. Marcellus Catholic Church. Fr. Gene Tremie will serve as the celebrant and Fr. Gary Schexnayder will serve as con- celebrant for the services. Burial will follow at St. Marcellus Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday with a Rosary at 6:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Monday until service time.

Mr. Armentor passed away on Friday, October 12, 2012 at the home he built on Bayou Petit Anse in New Iberia following a brief illness. He entered heaven peacefully, surrounded in love by his wife and children.

He was born to Lydia and Rodney Armentor on October 28, 1930 in New Iberia. As a teen, he learned the skill of carpentry working alongside his father. He enrolled in Southwestern Louisiana Institute (now ULL), where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Commercial Art in 1952. He married his childhood sweetheart Patricia "Pokey" Broussard in 1960. His inventive nature led him to create, design and build throughout his lifetime. He started his career at Krause & Managan Lumber Company, as a draftsman and salesman from 1952 to 1970, drafting home plans and developing materials lists for many Iberia Parish residents. His career shifted when he joined the staff of Iberia Savings & Loan (now Iberia Bank) in 1970 as an appraiser. He traveled nearly every street and road in Iberia Parish appraising homes until his retirement in 1994.

In retirement, he devoted much time to his children, giving of his expertise as they built or renovated homes of their own, and each home now bears his craftsmanship. Retirement allowed him to also engage in his many other passions, including fly tying, finding the perfect fishing spot, cooking a mean gumbo, and listening to music – his tastes ranged from country and Cajun French "chank-a-chank" to Jimmy Buffett, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John and the Eagles. In addition to his family, fishing, food & music, one of his greatest passions was people. He took great joy in visiting with and learning about people. During his two courageous battles with cancer, he asked every medical professional who assisted him about their families, and inevitably, he had a connection to their parents or grandparents.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia; sons Andrew Armentor, Jr. and wife Kathy, Bryan Armentor and wife Cheri; daughters Arlene and partner Jonathan Putt, Donna Mader and husband Mark, Beth Krantz and husband Kevin; seven grandchildren – Jonathan, Sarah, Benjamin, & Sammie Armentor, Ava, Ethan & Emma Krantz, and step-grandchildren Damian & Kailyn Krantz; sister Loney Leeson and husband Ronald; and brothers Billy Armentor and wife Kathleen, and Bob Armentor; sisters in law, Dianne Broussard and Carmen Decuir and brothers in law, Winston Broussard and wife Annette; Marvin Broussard and Donald, Carl and Charles Hugonin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lydia and Rodney Armentor, and sister-in-law, Jo Ellen McCarthy Armentor; and his in laws, Edwin A. Broussard and Evelyn Hugonin.

The family would like to thank Dr. George Cousin and his staff for their care and support.

Pallbearers are Andrew Armentor, Jr., Bryan Armentor, Billy Armentor, Bob Armentor, Jonathan Armentor, Joel Armentor, Mark Mader and Kevin Krantz.
