Andrew Hugo Edburg, 60, longtime resident of Austin, died May 6, 2012 in San Marcos, Texas after a battle with prostate cancer. He was born on August 29, 1951 in Ft Worth, Texas to Bulah Betty Ewing Edburg and Anton Hugo (Hugh) Edburg, Jr. and had a twin brother, Alan Edburg. Andy graduated from Austin High School in 1970 and went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in Business/Finance. He was a member of the UT Longhorn Band playing tuba and was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi making many life time friends. He loved golf, scuba diving, snow skiing, sailing boats, horses, country music, country western dancing, and obtained a pilot license for small fixed wing aircraft.

He worked for various companies including Weed Corley Funeral home in Austin, the City of Austin as a security officer at the Palmer Events Center, and Coordinator of Events at the Long Center. He worked for the University of Texas as an usher for home football games and an usher for basketball games/concert events at the Erwin Center.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother. He is survived by a stepfamily; his mom, Rusaline Edburg; sister, Penny Johnson and husband, Greg; niece, Paige Flippen and husband, Charles; nephew, Casey Hoch and wife, Tara; grand-nephew, Cash Flippen; and grand-niece, Ava Hoch. The family owned therapy dog "HOSS" brought him happiness and many smiles as HOSS has the markings of UT Mascot BEVO.

He had a kind heart and once gave away his car many years ago to a young boy learning to drive because as he said, "I don't need a car".

A special thank you to the compassionate and caring staff at Texan Nursing and Rehab of San Marcos and Odyssey Hospice for their support.

A gathering to celebrate his life will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday May 17, 2012 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home.
