Andrew A. Roque, M.D. was born on Nov. 30,1932, in East Chicago, Indiana, to Jesus Roque and Catalina Cervantes Roque. He passed away on May 10, 2014, in Los Angeles, CA, from cancer. He had thirteen siblings (7 pre-deceased him), eleven children, eight grandchildren, a large extended family and a great number of friends.

A gifted baseball infielder in his youth, he declined an offer from the then-Brooklyn Dodgers at the age of 19, opting instead to pursue his education at Indiana University (IU). He earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology from IU in 1956, and his Doctorate in Medicine (M.D.), also from IU, in 1960.

In 1957, he married Hilda Reyes and in 1960, with their son Richard Anthony (born 1959), they moved to Los Angeles, CA, where he completed his residency at Good Samaritan Hospital. Shortly thereafter, children Robert Andrew (born 1961) and Richel Ann "Shelley" (born 1964) arrived. He and Hilda divorced in 1967.

In 1961, daughter Mary Beth was born to him and Rebecca Walsh.

In 1962, he set up a private practice in general medicine, in Monterey Park, CA, with partner Donald Spitz, M.D., which would last until 1996.

In 1968, he married Dianne "Sherry" Auger. Their daughter Raemarie was born in 1970. He and Sherry divorced in 1971.

In 1972, he and Lynn Turner would have son Randolph Andrew.

In 1976, daughter Raichel Anne, was born to him and Debbie Frederickson.

In 1988, he married Jeri Floyd, and they would have Candice Catherine (born 1987), Andrew (born 1988) and Alexander Dakota (born 1991). He and Jeri would divorce in 1994.

Daughter Sierra Jean was born to him and Jeannie Kline in 2000.

Over the course of his medical career, in addition to providing general care to families, he delivered babies, performed surgeries, was Team Doctor for East Los Angeles College athletic teams, and was co-owner of Monterey Park Hospital.

Among his many interests were racquetball, horse racing, skiing, and piloting his own single engine Cessna to various locales.

Known by his parents as "Andres," his siblings as "Eint" (as in "Einstein"), his friends as "Andy," his many nieces and nephews as "Uncle Andy," his patients as "Dr. Roque," his grandchildren as "Grandpa," and his children as "Dad," he was loved by all.

With his movie-star good looks, charming demeanor and quick wit he was instantly liked by those he met. He was a man of many accomplishments and few words. He embodied the phrase "live life to the fullest." He will be sorely missed, yet will live forever in the hearts and minds of his loved ones. May he rest in peace.
