Angeline "Angie" (Giovinazzo) Adams, 87, of Lima, died at 2:24 p.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Lima Memorial Health Systems. She was born March 3, 1925, in Lima, to Dominic and Teresa (D'Anna Caruso) Giovinazzo who preceded her in death. On Oct. 25, 1947, she married George P. Adams who died May 7, 1989. She graduated from St. Rose School in 1943 and worked at the Lima Tank Depot as a Bondo girl, sealing the inside of tanks. She was a waitress at many local restaurants, including the Susie Q and the Kewpee. She retired from Lima Memorial Hospital after 14 years as a cook. Angeline "Angie" (Giovinazzo) Adams, 87, of Lima, died at 2:24 p.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Lima Memorial Health Systems. She was born March 3, 1925, in Lima, to Dominic and Teresa (D'Anna Caruso) Giovinazzo who preceded her in death. On Oct. 25, 1947, she married George P. Adams who died May 7, 1989.
She graduated from St. Rose School in 1943 and worked at the Lima Tank Depot as a Bondo girl, sealing the inside of tanks. She was a waitress at many local restaurants, including the Susie Q and the Kewpee. She retired from Lima Memorial Hospital after 14 years as a cook. She was known for her love of cooking and great Italian meatballs, making thousands for friends over the course of her life. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Society, V.F.W. Post 1275 Ladies Auxiliary, C.I.A.O., N.A.R.F.E. She enjoyed bingo, Big Band dances at Lincoln Park and watching sports, especially the O.S.U. Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds.
Surviving are two daughters: Nancy (Robert) Kerr of Cincinnati and Linda Leist of Lima; three grandchildren: Loretta (Ryan) Good, Toni (Jason Herbort) Kerr and Kevin (Cori) Kerr and one great-grandchild: Nathan Kerr; and a brother, Michael (Nora) Giovinazzo of Bluffton, a sister-in-law: Suzanne Adam of Lima; another sister-in-law Pat Giovinazzo, and many nieces and nephews. Also, she is survived by her lifelong best friend, Dorothy Jarvis of Lima, and her many friends at Lima Convalescent Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, her brothers, Frank, Jim and Nick also a sister Teresa and an infant sister Girolama, and many in-laws.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, at St. Rose Catholic Church, her home parish, with Fr. David Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, from 6-8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2-7 p.m. at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Activity Department at Lima Convalescent Home or to St. Rose/St. John Catholic Churches.
