Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 5, 2015.

Anita Aimone, local businesswoman, died February 28, 2015. She was owner and operator of Giuseppe's Italian Restaurant, Clinton, for 40 years. Anita was a resident of Vermillion Convalescent Center for 4½ years, having been diagnosed with Sundowner's Dementia in 2010. Anita was the daughter of Joe and Mildred Gambaiani Aimone. They preceded her in death, along with her brother John Richard and his son, Anthony Aimone. She was a 1957 graduate of Clinton High School and a 1961 graduate of St. Mary of the Woods College. In 1983, she earned a Masters of Arts degree in Russian history from Indiana State University. Anita taught in parochial schools in Louisville, Kentucky; Gloucester, Massachusetts, and New Orleans, Louisiana. After her brother's and father's deaths, she returned to Clinton. Anita and her mother moved the downtown Giuseppe's to a small building on Crompton Hill. With a loyal staff, her mother's guidance, and her dad's recipes, she served the public for 40+ years. Her spaghetti sauce, veal, and meatballs were enjoyed by the people of the Clinton area, Paris, Terre Haute and Charleston. It was truly fine dining. Anita was a devote Roman Catholic. She attended Sacred Heart - Clinton, where she received a great foundation to begin God's service. Anita loved her animals; she raised dogs and cats and even had a horse or two. Her dogs, especially Yoodi and Junior, were her loyal companions. During the 1990's, Anita bred and showed Russian Wolfhounds' at the national level. Anita was involved in various philanthropic organizations. She was also a member of Sacred Heart parish where she was a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the St. Mary of the Woods Alumnae Association, Terre Haute Club, and Friends of the Carmelites of Terre Haute. She traveled to Italy on numerous occasions, spending one year in Castel Gandolfo where she studied God's Word. Anita is survived by nephews Joe (Kim) Aimone of Cloverdale, IN, Michael Aimone of Pennsylvania; two great nephews, two great nieces and Aimone and Gambaiani cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM, Sacred Heart Church, Clinton, Indiana with Reverend Father Varghese Malikkal officiating. Life, like a mist, appears for just a day then disappears. But God promises ,' He will call and we shall live at His command.' May we take comfort knowing He remembers us.
