COLUMBIA – Funeral service for Anita Sue Duffy will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June

25, 2014 at Chapin Presbyterian Church, with burial to be held in Woodridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Dunbar Funeral

Home, Dutch Fork Chapel.

Mrs. Duffy died June 22, 2014. Born Anita Sue Railey in Birmingham, AL in 1948, Sue

grew up in Jacksonville and Orlando, FL. While attending Boone High School, she was editor of

the yearbook and an avid water-skier, so much so that she was invited to join the Cypress

Gardens Water Ski Team. She graduated from the University of Florida, where she majored in

journalism and was an officer of Chi Omega sorority. As editor of the college yearbook, she met

her husband, Mike, who also worked in Student Publications, and they married in 1970.

They settled in Atlanta, where Sue was editor of a craft magazine, and later moved to

Miami where she worked in advertising, winning numerous "Addy" awards for her writing. In

Miami, Sue committed her life to Christ, and played piano for a choir mission to a nearby federal

penitentiary.

In 1984, the family moved to Columbia, where Sue continued her prison ministry,

worked as a journalist for the University of South Carolina and Columbia Business Monthly, and

as a realtor with Russell & Jeffcoat and later, with her husband's company, Resource Properties.

But her love of writing returned her to journalism as she became editor of Lake Murray

Magazine and subsequently Reach Out Columbia magazine, and began writing suspense novels.

Sue completed five award-winning novels, including Mortal Wounds, Fatal Loyalty, and

the Red Returning trilogy. She also contributed numerous articles to Christian publications such

as Christian Fiction Online, Moody Monthly magazine, The Presbyterian Journal, Sunday

Digest, The Christian Reader, and The PCA Messenger. Her work is also featured in Stories for

a Woman's Heart.

Sue was a member of Chapin Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed entertaining family and

friends at her home on Lake Murray, decades of fellowship with the Supper Club, tennis as

member of WildeWood USTA teams, cruising southeastern waterways with the Lake Murray

Power Squadron, and extensive overseas travel.

Sue was the daughter of JD Railey of Alexander City, AL and Doris A. Railey

(deceased), and the sister of Scott Dewitt Railey. She is also survived by her husband Mike,

with whom she shared 44 wonderful years, daughters Kim Duffy Beasenburg and Laura Duffy

Player (husband Ryan), son Brian Duffy (wife Krystyna), and grandchildren Mya, Luke, Railey,

Sydney, Trent and Skylar.
