Anitra Williams Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 4, 2013.

Services will be held on Monday, October 7, 2013. Visitation begins at 12:00 PM. Service begins at 1:00 PM, Wayman AME Church, 1221 7th Ave. North, Minneapolis, MN 55411. Repass begins at 4:00, 4539 58th Ave N, Brooklyn Center, MN 55429.

Upon her arrival in this world Anitra was a gift. She was a Blessing and soldier at a young age. A very beautiful and vibrant young child with such a brilliant imagination she had an imaginary friend by the time she could talk. Ironically the friends name was Friend. As a baby she was adorned as a model baby by all, she was beautiful.

As Anitra grew a bit older she was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, a form of muscular dystrophy. A few years before Anitra began Kindergarten she had to endure a surgical procedure that the doctors called "the equivalent of open heart surgery" having her Thymus Gland removed. In any event she made it. We all watched her as young as 3, attached to IV's, in her tiny hospital robe, walk the hallways of Children's Hospital nothing short of a miniature survivor. She was triumphant. We as a family marveled at her.

Eventually she met the love of her life Derrick…. and her life changed forever. They became married; they had a son, Derrick, then a daughter Alivia. They began a life together. She loved him and he loved her. They were a loving family. They enjoyed each other and were good parents. Anitra enjoyed teaching her children. Anitra and Derrick attended college together and attained Bachelor's Degrees together. They were inseparable.

May 2nd, Anitra lost her mother unexpectedly to a rare form of cancer called Sarcoma. July 11th she lost her father to a battle of prostate cancer. On September 21st Anitra passed as well, joining her parents in paradise. Preceding Anitra in death were again both of her parents, Quincy Crawford-Boyle and June Crawford-Boyle and joined in death by her husband Derrick Williams Sr. on 9/21/13.

Anitra left memories to her son Derrick Jr., 6 years old, her daughter Alivia, 18 months, her sisters Angelique Harbin, Anessa Brittain, Andrea Boyle-Larry, her Brothers Kamau Larry, Tarellus Griffin and Dante Suggs, her nieces & nephews Alexis, Breeyana, Ahnadjah, Cyrus, Aydjah, MaCayla and T'Naye, Also her grandparents Alfred and Doris Sloan . She also had special sisters including Regina, Joy, Tish and many more. She leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and many people who loved her.

Anitra was known for her loving nature and her beautiful smile. She loved her family, she loved her friends, She loved life. She indeed was the epitome of love. She will live through us all….forever.

Anitra and her family lived across from us before her passing. Sometimes we would exercise together. Our families had each other over for dinner. Anitra, I will never forget you! You passed on several bags of clothing to my son and daughter, which often remind me of you. Thank you for your positive influence on me and my family!

Sister.. It has definitely been hard not having you here. I love Lil D and Livi and will do everything I can to give them the best life possible. You were such a loving soul and will be greatly be missed. I think of how much you told me you missed Mom and how hard it was not being able to talk to her everyday. (Tell her I said hello and kiss her and hug her for me and all the kids) Dad too! I never imagined having to live my life without you. I did Tink's party as you designed and she had a ball along with her friends. I appreciate all you have done for me and how much support you showed even though you were my Lil Sis. I know you are in a better place and you are a angel looking down on me and protecting me and guiding me through one of the most horrible years in my life. I will forever miss you and hold you close and dear to my heart. I LOVE YOU NEE NEE!!!

Anitra, thank you for being such a blessing to my life. We lived four blocks away from each other. I remember walking to the bus my first year at South and you greeted me with the biggest smile. We had met that summer through another friend and were all starting High school together. Instantly we grew so many friends in our circle. So many friends with many talents. We became so close, we became family. I was blessed to share family memories with you. Reminiscing on some of our teenaged affairs lol yes you know all of those times we had to call Anessa or Andrea for advice and help ;) Man this is going to take me time to understand why you left so soon. I had to tell Dani that you are in heaven with God. He smiles at the picture you took of him and Derrick Jr. He says "God Mommy" We will always love and remember you. Rest In Heaven

I remember Anitra being the baby sister of my friends and bball teammates. I don't have many memories of her, but the ones I do have, she was always happy and smiling. I know that your sisters will make sure your children know what a great person you grew up to be. I hope you can rest easy now. And to the family, I will continue to keep you all in my prayers.

I can't believe this.. I'm still in shock. Everytime we chatted on facebook you were always so happy and full of life. I only wish we would have chatted more and hung out more after highschool... we had some pretty awesome times in school, if only we could've and would've had more... Regardless, I will never forget you. I pray for your babies everyday in my morning prayers and pray for peace to be brought to your family and friends. You will be truly missed but you are with your parents now and most importantly with god. Rest in peace ???

Dear Anitra,
This life has been very hard without you. A million questions and very few answers. Everyday I ask myself what I could have done to obtain a different outcome. I love you Anitra. I love the kids. There is a pain in my soul that never leaves. It is because that piece of me, that was you, has been taken from me. My tears are endless. Until we meet again, Rest in Paradise.

I can't believe that it was just a few months ago we were talking. Remembering the times I would watch you, Tiphanie and Fallon at your Aunt Doris'. As you put so ever sweet and plain, "I played more with you than watch you. I loved every minute of i, even if you made jump rope. I love you and will miss you.

The last time I saw Anitra (R.I.P.) was at Andrea house for the gathering and lost of her & the other A girls (sisters) both parents(R.I.P. QUINCY &JERI).. My 1st thought was WOWZERS she's beautiful, Who is she , Look @ her smile, body, hair & warm personality .
I knew she was family& looked like the other A girls but I assumed she was family & not the baby sister ,I had not seen her before that night since she was 3/4 yrs old..
We** A girls , loads of family & I** laughed, talked and brought up memories from the past of Quincy , Jeri(R.I.P.)& just enjoyed each others company& shared stories ,As baby A (Anitra) R.I.P. talked about a spirit that was like a guardian when she was younger( I watched her as she spoke& smiled, My thought was she looked a lot like her aunty Mary( So pretty with that contagious smile that makes you smile because its so beautiful).
I was thinking the A girls are beautiful & have such a peaceful spirit about them ,Its relaxing being in the presence of them even during this time of mourning their parents(Quincy & Jeri) R.I.P.& AWESOME JOB with all of your daughters...
The next day I sent baby A(Anitra) a note on f.b. saying I was embarrassed and sorry for not remembering her and told her I loved her& she responded back.
" Don't worry about that at all (lol) girl being the baby ppl be mad at me that I don't remember them, SO when ppl don't remember me either it makes me feel a lot better ...& told me she loved me too...
I LOVE MY COUSIN (S)
YOU WILL BE MISSED BUT NOT FORGOTTON.. I LOVE YOU ...
Your cousin Deouna Wade(Jagne)

My beautiful baby sister, I can't express what I'm feeling...I just can't believe you are gone. Each day doesn't pass without me reminiscing about the times we shared together, birthdays, holidays and hanging out with one another. You had grown to become an intelligent woman and dedicated mother. I miss your smile and hearing your voice. Rest in paradise sister and watch over us until our heavenly reunion. I love you dearly and will make sure the kids will know what a great daughter, mother, sister, auntie and wife you were. Best believe they are in good hands...your big sisters are making sure of that. <3 <3
