I knew Ann for 35 years. She was a dear friend and valued colleague. She was one of the funniest and kindest people I ever met. She and I worked very well together, and on many occasions, we had to cobble together a reason for allowing a case when there was no listing or POMS to cover a particular situation. It gave us great pleasure to work on cases like this--even the ones she called, "a rip-roaring mess"! She was always an advocate for the claimant. She was a staunch supporter of her staff and her colleagues.
She was a consummate trainer. She did her alma mater proud--she was a living example of the fine teachers graduated by what was then known as George Peabody College for Teachers. We will never forget her at the Tennessee DDS.
I will love and miss her forever.

I am so sorry for your loss.
I still can't believe it. I was in vocational training with Ann last Wednesday and she imparted her vast knowledge in her usually witty self.
She was my supervisor for several years (my daughter called her the 'little boss')in the training region and I learned alot from her. She was instrumental in setting up our fabulous Training Region in our current building. She really did enjoyed training but hated to stand up front with a microphone. She much preferred to walk up and down the center aisle so she could relate to the staff.
She was definitely Ms Policy. No one could hold a candle to Ann. I don't know how we will fill her shoes.
Ann - as you can see with all of these wonderful messages, you were loved and will be greatly missed.

To the family:
Ann and I worked together in the DDS for many years. I retired in May 2014. At my retirement Ann told me she was also considering retirement. Her passing saddens me greatly. I found her to be very capable and serious in every aspect of her work; and at the sametime brought humor and fun into the daily work routine. She also had a superb ability to teach and explain the ongoing policy/case processing changes in the DDS. My prayers and thoughts are with the family. May God give you strength to carry on during this difficult period.

To Ann's family I send my deepest sympathy. Her absence, I know, will be a major loss to the family as it is to her friends and her DDS Family. When I came to work at DDS in 1999, Ann was so helpful to me. I loved her sense of humor, her feisty nature and her sense of fairness. She never picked favorites and treated all the same and I admire that tremendously. I also was awed by that memory of hers....because it was AWESOME. I am so sorry I could not attend visitation but I do want her family to know that I personally will miss her very much at DDS. She leaves a void that will be difficult to fill and that is because of her particular knowledge, bubbling personality, and dedication to accuracy and fairness. May she rest in peace, I hope united with her beloved Frankie and her pets, and may warm memories comfort you.

Mary and Tom, I am deeply sorry for your tragic loss. You can be very proud of your big sister. Ann's life was entirely about service. Along her way, she passionately taught and guided all of us at TN DDS to deliver the best possible services. Ann spoke P.O.M.S. fluently as a second language and inspired that in all. She also provided many memorable DDS moments with her lively rhetoric. I have known Ann for 45 years and still marveled at her uniqueness. Ann was, in short (pun intended), the glue that held the intricately woven DDS together. Rest in well-deserved Peace, old friend.

To fill her shoes at the DDS, well I am not sure that can be done. She will be remembered for her spunk, her capabilities, and her success at work. She had a tenacity to get things done right. She loved her animals and her Disney figurines that were all over her office desk. She will be missed.

"Ann said". Those two words marked the resolution to countless work-related problems/issues/debates throughout the years at DDS. Ann was whip-smart about her job yet she did not diminish or condescend when answering (what likely seemed to her) dumb questions!
Nothing at work will ever be the same without Ann and what "Ann said".

I did not know Ann personally but knew her through work and occasional Pancake Pantry forays. Ann was one of those people you couldn't help but like: kind, smart, a straight shooter, and very funny. You just knew she was "good people."

Ann was our supervisor in the QA Unit from 1999-2001. She treated us like we were her own (adult) children. We all loved her dearly. She had excellent people skills. She was brilliant. She never stopped teaching, and I learned much from her. I enjoyed continuing to see her when she would come down to the Regional Office in Atlanta. We will all miss her.

Although I have been gone from DDS for some time all of my time there involve many memories of Ann. She is someone who touched lives. When she was my supervisor I knew that she cared about me as a person and when I became a supervisor she was always available for advice and to help me see what was possible. She will live on in all of our memories and in the memories of others because I know we each have our favorite memories involving Ann that we've told others thereby spreading her warm, loving and occasionally tongue in cheek nature. Ann-I have 10 emails today that I can't answer and my ongoing Ann file does not cover these subjects. I suspect you are smiling down on me about this right now. I am lost, not just professionally but personally. I just said to a coworker we have lost a rudder to our ship and I will miss her laugh and that spitfire personality we know and love. You left us all too soon.

I don't even no where to begin. I am blessed to have known her and be able to call her a friend. I am blessed to have met her sister. I am blessed to have met those that she knew from The Pantry and South Street. I have been very blessed. I just wish I could have been blessed a little more.

Ann was a major influence in the continuity of the TN DDS. She was so involved in the teaching of most everyone at one time or another at this workplace. She will truly be missed by many. We were deeply saddened to hear of her passing and we offer our deepest sympathies to her family and hope that her animals that she loved so much will be well taken care of.

Ann has been my dearest friend for 46 years. Through the dark times and the happiest of times I always had one constant: Ann, my tiny, short friend. I will always love her with my whole heart. She cannot be replaced and things will never be the same without her. I am a better person because of her and I will treasure all memories with and of her forever. I love you, tiny tot! ❤

Oh, how I loved, respected and trusted Ann. I depended on her to teach me from her vast, and really quite incredible, knowledge of the policies of the DDS. I will miss her more than words can convey. Rest in peace, Ann. In your honor I will try to continue learning, but it will be a vastly lonelier process without you.
