Ann Amante, age 89, of New Rochelle, NY, died peacefully at her home June 9, 2012. She was born in Yatesboro, PA on July 29, 1922, the 3rd of 10 children of the late Victor & Fannie Polisuk. Her family relocated to Detroit, MI and after 20 yrs moved to NYC with 2 other sisters, Mary & Helen, where Ann met her husband, the late Joseph Amante. Together they owned and managed La Rochelle Florist at 520 North Ave in New Rochelle. Their vision was to do whatever it took to make customers enjoy being with their loved ones. Ann continued to managed the business another 25 yrs after Joseph passed away in 1978 before she retired. She had a passion for sewing, gardening and cooking. Ann is survived by her 3 loving children Carol Ann, Kathleen Amante-Dickter and Richard, her cherished grandsons Max and Jeffrey and her sister Julie Sulkowski. The Amante family will receive friends at George T. Davis Funeral Home in New Rochelle (www.georgetdavis.com) on Tuesday June 12, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral service will be held at Holy Name Church on Petersville Road in New Rochelle Wednesday June 13 at 9:30 AM followed by interment at Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Elmsford.
