Obituary

Anna Lee Smith Arrington, 99, died peacefully on November 3, 2013 at Clapp's Family Nursing Center. A funeral service will be on Tuesday, November 5 at 2 pm at Macedonia Baptist Church in Liberty, officiated by Pastor Stephen Bishop. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at Mrs. Arrington's home. Mrs. Arrington was a native of Guilford County and in her youth was a member of Coble's Lutheran Church. She was devout member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she sang beautiful alto in quartets and the choir. She loved to travel and dance and was an excellent homemaker. She taught...
Anna Lee Smith Arrington, 99, died peacefully on November 3, 2013 at Clapp's Family Nursing Center.

A funeral service will be on Tuesday, November 5 at 2 pm at Macedonia Baptist Church in Liberty, officiated by Pastor Stephen Bishop. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at Mrs. Arrington's home.

Mrs. Arrington was a native of Guilford County and in her youth was a member of Coble's Lutheran Church. She was devout member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she sang beautiful alto in quartets and the choir. She loved to travel and dance and was an excellent homemaker. She taught her children and grandchildren the art of cooking and preserving vegetables from the garden, providing love for her family with excellent meals in a warm home full of laughter.

She was the daughter of the late Pate and Etta Coble Smith and was also preceded in death by her husband, George Ansel Arrington; daughter and son-in-law Melrose and Connie Woodard; and son-in-law Thomas E. York.

Mrs. Arrington is survived by her daughter, Doris A. York of Liberty; grandchildren Travis York of Rocky Mount, Robin Weitzel of Cary and Sheila Scott of Julian; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and special friend and caregiver, Betty Gregory.
