Ann Sproull went to be with her Lord on July 3, 2014 in Atlanta, Georgia, following a recent illness. Ann was born on November 15, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to Ted and Betty Melching. Before her first birthday the family, including her sister Ellen and brother Ted, moved to Tampa, Florida where she would live for almost 80 years. Ann graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1947, and remained close friends with her high school classmates and active in organizing class reunions throughout her life. In 1948 she would marry her husband of almost 66 years, Jim Sproull. Her business career led to her becoming an insurance agent, and finally manager of employee benefits of Critikon, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, from which she retired. Following her retirement she worked for Towers, Perrin as a consultant. In 2009 she and Jim moved to Atlanta, Georgia to be close to their son and daughter in law as well as their “Grand” dog, Lili. While in college their son Jim gave his parents the nicknames, “Fred” and “Ethel” and soon they would be forever known to friends and family as “Fred & Ethel.”

Ann committed her life to Jesus Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of several churches serving in many capacities. She was a member of Idlewild Baptist Church at the time of her death and loved serving in the children’s area on Sunday mornings to greet all the children and parents. Her community service over the decades was an important part of her life, but her real focus was always family and friends. Always looking for opportunities to help and encourage others, she leaves a legacy of caring, compassion, generosity, joy and service as a treasured memory and example to all who knew her. She loved shopping, especially her many trips to New York with her girl friends but shared most of what she bought with others. Her travels took her around the world and she especially loved the many cruises she took with Fred.

Surviving Ann are her husband, “Fred”, son and daughter in law Jim and Linda Sproull of Atlanta, brother Ted Melching and his wife Glenda of Tampa, along with numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends. Ann will be missed, but as a believer in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, she knew that because He lives we do not say good-bye, but see you later Ethel!
