Annamary H. Deegan, 99, of Susquehanna Twp., passed away peacefully on May 30, 2014 at home surrounded by her family. Annamary was born in Steelton, PA on March 5, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Howard Strock and Julia A. (Beers) Hartman, and preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Deegan, and her brother, Harold Hartman. She was a 1933 graduate of Steelton High School and the Central Pennsylvania Business School. She had worked for the International Harvester before raising her children. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Steelton where she taught Sunday school for more than 50 years;...
Annamary H. Deegan, 99, of Susquehanna Twp., passed away peacefully on May 30, 2014 at home surrounded by her family. Annamary was born in Steelton, PA on March 5, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Howard Strock and Julia A. (Beers) Hartman, and preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Deegan, and her brother, Harold Hartman. She was a 1933 graduate of Steelton High School and the Central Pennsylvania Business School. She had worked for the International Harvester before raising her children. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Steelton where she taught Sunday school for more than 50 years; she enjoyed listening to opera, reading, and crocheting. Annamary had a strong faith and was family centered in everything she did. Surviving is one daughter, Julianne E.D. Baumann, husband, Keith, of Elmira, NY; two sons, Joseph E. Deegan, wife, Linda, of Wormleysburg and James H. Deegan, fiancé, Darleen LeFever, of Ephrata; 3 grandchildren, Christine Robinson, John Deegan and Dr. Erin Baumann; 2 great-grandchildren, Devin and Duane; and her sister, Colleen J. Shoemaker, of Kirkwood. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 3, 2014 in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held from 1:00 PM Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. The family would like to give a special thank you to Patsy Travis for all the years she cared for their mother. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 39 N. Second St., Steelton, PA 17113. -
