Anne Reece Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 15, 2017.

Molly Anne Torrey Reece died peacefully in Duncanville Texas on May 12, 2017 at the age of 93. Her 18+ year battle with Alzheimer’s is over and we rejoice that now she is in her eternal home and with the Lord Jesus.

A small memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday May 23 at 2:00PM at the chapel in Laurel Land in Dallas. A short graveside service will follow with Dr. William J Jackson of Houston Texas officiating. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Anne’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to:

THE INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM OF CULTURES 411 U.S. Highway 67 Southbound Frontage Rd. Duncanville, TX 75137 (972) 572-0462

Anne is survived by her son Ricky Lee Reece and his wife Sharon Reece, of Bonham Texas and her daughter Karen A. Brashers and her husband Jim Brashers, of Lewisville Texas, and grandchildren Krista Aquilar and David Reece, and great grandchild Kolton Aquilar of Bonham Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband Lester Lee Reece and grandson John Cameron Reece of Duncanville Texas.

Anne was born on March 17, 1924 in St. Joe Idaho to Joseph and Eva Torrey. She graduated from Citrus High School in Los Angeles California in 1943 then joined the US Navy as a member of the Singing Waves. She met her husband Lester Reece at a Fred Waring concert on August 22 1945 and they were married on December 15 1945, in New York City at the chapel of the American Bible Society. Son, Ricky came along the following December, and daughter, Karen was born in 1952. We remember Mom and Dad’s godly character modeled to us over the years, and felt their love and blessing throughout our lives. Anne was also a blessing to many people as she served as a secretary and in the choir at First Baptist Church in Dallas. Trained in classical music and a member of the “Singing Waves” of the USN, she had a lovely voice until one day she developed a condition that ended her singing career. Her musical gifts were imparted to three generations. She was also passionate about missions and served as a docent and in the gift shop at the International Museum of Cultures in Dallas.

Condolences can be sent to [email protected] PO Box 160, Bailey, TX 75413 and to Karen at 247 E. Southwest Pkwy, #1805, Lewisville, TX 75067-5928. The family would like to thank Ms. Billie Walker and her staff for their loving care over many years, as well as Kathy Bartz who cared for her previously until her own retirement.
