Ahern, Anne Marie McFarland, 91, a woman of strong faith, great love of family and so proud of her Irish Heritage, passed away at home in Clearwater on Sunday, January 12, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.
Anne, with an "E", was born in Boston on September 15, 1922 to and preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen McFarland. She met and married the "true love of her life" Robert J. Ahern (1998) in May, 1942. Mom had 4 boys, Robert J., Jr. (Clearwater) his wife, trusted and faithful Ireland travel companion and rock during her late years, Patricia. David Michael (2010), Paul Francis (Belleair) and James Edward (Clearwater). Also, the true apples of her eye, 6 grandchildren, Matthew, Scott, Michael, Robert III, Cheryl McLean and Nancy Kauffman. Blessed to have 14 great-grandchildren, "my little ones" whom always brought so much joy to her. Anne also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, family members and loyal friends. Anne and Robert relocated to Clearwater from Boston in 1971. They moved to Homosassa Springs in late 1979 and stayed there until moving back to Clearwater in 1998. During this time, Anne was a successful Real Estate Agent and Broker in both Pinellas and Citrus County. Anne in 1961 received the prestigious "Mother of the Year Award", a title for which she holds to this very day.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 PM, Monday, January 20, 2014 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 10895 Hamlin Blvd., Largo, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Suncoast Hospice, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33760.
