MACON – Frances Anne Covington Patton Alexander, 74, passed away peacefully at 2:20pm on Wednesday June 15th. Visitation will be held on Thursday June 16th from 6pm – 8pm at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 9:30am on Friday June 17th at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. John Kinser will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Strong Tower Fellowship, 2193 Vineville Avenue, Macon 31204, First Presbyterian Church, 682 Mulberry Street, Macon 31201 or to a charity of your choice.

Born in Bennettsville, SC the daughter of the late Robert Thomas and Frances Coleman Covington, Anne grew up in Conway, SC. She attended Wesleyan College with a major in music and taught piano until beginning a career in real estate sales in 1970. She worked with Patton Realty, SSK Realty, Alexander-Frost & Co. and Sheridan Soloman Co. until her retirement in 2006. During her lengthy career she received numerous awards, including Life Member of the Million Dollar Club. She was a member of the Morning Music Club. Anne was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was previously an active member of Vineville Presbyterian Church (now Strong Tower).

While Anne was very successful in her business career, her greatest success came as a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She raised and supported her five children, for a number of years as a single mom, during one of the most difficult real estate periods. Her deep Christian faith and strong work ethic was passed along to her children, all of whom have succeeded in life.

When she married Tommy Alexander in 1983, she took on his three daughters as her own and melded the two families together as one. The "Alexander girls" have had Anne as their mom longer than their birth mom and they love her dearly.

Anne is survived by her family whom she adored, her husband Thomas (Tommy) W. Alexander of Macon; her daughters, Marianna Patton Hudspeth of Greensboro, GA and Judy Patton Roberts (Leigh) of Suwanee, GA; her sons, Robert C. Patton (Cornealia), of Suwanee, GA, Rev. H. Thomas Patton III (Dianna) of Birmingham, AL and Patrick C. Patton (Lisa) of Macon; her stepdaughters, Beth Alexander Dobbins (Randy) of Marion, NC, Mary Clare Alexander Freel (Eric) of Macon and Eleanor Alexander Lilly (Chet) of Atlanta; twenty-two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
