Anne Bates, 98, of Independence, MO, passed away on February 9, 2011, at Centerpoint Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be February 15, 2011, at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel from 6-8 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Ann's Catholic Church with burial to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Anne was born in Kansas City, MO, on May 26, 1912, to John & Anna Wisniewksi. Anne worked as a clerk for the B & B Drug Store for 31 years. She was a member of St. Ann's Altar Society. Her life centered on her role of wife, mother and grandmother, as she continually nurtured and encouraged her children and grandchildren. Anne was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Charles; 8 sisters and a granddaughter, Jessica Bates. She is survived by her sons, Robert Bates (Gerri) and Tom Bates (Donna); a daughter, Loretta Bates; a sister, Joann Rizzo (Tony); grandchildren, Aaron Bates (Elizabeth), Daniel Bates, Melissa Lawniczak (Scott) and Christina Bates and great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Samantha, Jessica, Alyssa, Sarah, Tyler and Nickolas. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Ann's Church or to St. Mary's High School. Condolences may be left at www.mcgilleysheil.com. To the family of Anne Bates my prayers are with you and I'm sorry for your loss. Your mother was a beautiful person,she had a way of making a tough day brighter for me and I will miss her. Miss Anne I will find you again but this time without eye drops or one pill just a big hug. God bless and I know you will be watching over us.
