Anne Nicholson Griffis Ladner, of Hixson, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2013.

Anne was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to the late Edward Brown and Odilein Alexander Griffis. She was a graduate of Central High School, Murfreesboro, Tennessee; went to State Teachers College (Middle Tennessee State University), and received her bachelor's of art degree from Louisiana State University. Anne also graduated from Nashville School of Social Work (UTSSW) and Columbia University (MSSW). She was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. Anne retired as Supervisor of Child Welfare Division from the State of Tennessee Human Service Department with over 40 years of service. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church. Anne was a member of the American Business Women's Association; American Legion Auxiliary Unit 159, charter member of National Association of Social Workers, American Association of Retired Persons, Tennessee Association of Public Welfare Retirees, the Senior Neighbors of Chattanooga and Northside Civitan Club.

Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Frank G. Ladner and her stepson, Frank Allen Ladner.

She is survived by her stepdaughters, Ruth (John) Campbell of Washington, Iowa and Betty (Jessie) Page of Kingsport, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Ladner of Los Angeles, California; granddaughter, Alyssa Ladner and grandson, Jonathan Ladner, both of Los Angeles, California; granddaughter, Erika Page of Kingsport, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 am on Thursday at the North Chapel.

Services for Anne will follow at 10 am on Thursday at the North Chapel with Reverend Stephenie Hill officiating . Burial will be held at National Cemetery and following the burial the family will receive friends again at the funeral home.
