Anthony (Tony) Attanyi passed away peacefully after a short illness on October 20, 2013 at the Foothills Hospital.

Tony was truly a remarkable person who overcame obstacles and difficulties in his 92 years. While in grade nine, he became interested in photography. During the war he served in the Hungarian Army as a photo journalist. After the war he was captured and held prisoner by the Russians and spent time in a prisoner-of-war camp. As a result of this experience, he could not stand the sight or smell of cabbage.

After spending a short time in Toronto, Tony settled in Calgary and spent the rest of his life here. Tony married Dorothy Wadley in 1960 and together they ran a successful photography studio and business. He exhibited many of his photographs in national and international exhibitions, lectured and presented seminars on photography and his work. He was a true master photographer.

Music was another great interest and he also composed his own music. After Dorothy's death in 2001, Tony was very proud to marry Cindy in 2009. Tony was predeceased by his wife Dorothy and is survived by his wife Cindy, nieces Wendy Gardiner (Kevin Johnson), Connie Atkins, nephew Doug Atkins, and nieces and nephews in Hungary.

A special thank you to all the staff at the Chinook Care Centre and Foothills Hospital for their wonderful care.
