Anthony P. Barthel, Sr., 57, of Newburgh, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Deaconess Hospice Care Center. He was born on February 7, 1954 to Helen Naomi (Beal) and Henry Barnard Barthel in Evansville. Tony is the fourth of five children-Robert Henry "Bob" of Palm Springs, CA; William Joseph "Bill" of Portland, OR; John David of San Marcos, TX; and Kathleen Barthel, who passed away at age 11.

He attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Reitz High School in 1972 and from Purdue University in 1976 with a management degree. Shortly after college, Tony owned Evansville Nut & Bolt for many years. Upon selling the business, he started Quality Painting and Striping, which he sold last fall. Tony's interest in Christian music led him to his most recent business--owner of Liberation Productions. He has had much success with bringing Christian music concerts to the Evansville area.

Tony had two children from his first marriage: Jennifer Marie (Barthel) Lewis; Cynthia Renee (Barthel) Ford. With his second wife, Donna (Harris) Bennett-Barthel (who preceded him in death), Tony adopted Breann Bennett-Barthel, had Anthony Paul Barthel, Jr., and then adopted Lia Alexandria Barthel and Lily Kathleen Barthel from China. Tony also has two grandchildren, Riley and Christopher.

Through his promotions of Christian concerts and the work with the church, Tony met Kimberly "Kim" Reynolds. They were married on January 25, 2008. Tony's stepchildren are Travis Alan King and Molly Elizabeth King. The family was joined together by Kim's adoption of Anthony, Lia and Lily.

He has been a member of the West Side Nut Club since 1978. He also served as a middle school leader at Crossroads Christian Church and also attended Bethel Temple Community church. Tony believed God blessed him with strong faith.

The thing that Tony values most in life was his faith in God.

Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, June 6, 2011, at Crossroads Christian Church, 10800 Lincoln Avenue, Newburgh, IN, officiated by Rev. Carl Mann, Rev. Todd Bussey and Rev. Chris Chaudoin, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made, "In Memory to Tony Barthel", Deaconess Hospice Care Center, 600 Mary Street, Evansville, IN 47710.

"Jen and Cindy- I actually ran across this by accident, and am just awestruck. I am so sorry for your loss, and for the loss your halfsiblings are..." Lacee Volz (Indy, IN)
