Anthony R. Callisto, Sr., 90, of Solvay, passed away Sunday December 25th at home. A life resident of Solvay, he was a US Army Veteran of World War II, serving with the Special Forces Unit, Merrill's Marauders, he was awarded 2 Bronze Stars. Tony was employed by Allied Chemical as a maintenance mechanic for 36 years before retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Solvay-Geddes Veterans Association, the Stanley B. Pennock VFW Post 2893. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, the former Ida Edith DellaPeruta, a daughter; Lucille (David) Flaherty, of Solvay, 2 sons; Dr. Daniel Callisto, of Ohio and Anthony (Lisa) Callisto, Jr., of Lakeland, 7 grandchildren; Sara, Lisa, Christopher, Catherine, Anthony, Garrison and Jacob, 8 great-grandchildren, 1 sister; Frances Miguel, of Solvay, 2 brothers; Jack Callisto, of CA and Pat Callisto, of FL, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:15 am Wednesday December 28th in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, Solvay, and 9 am at St Cecilia Church, Solvay, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 pm Tuesday December 27th at the funeral home, 2601 Milton Avenue.
