Anthony Paul Fappiano, MD, age 74, husband of Olive Fappiano, of Madison passed away unexpectedly on May 3rd, at Yale New Haven Hospital after a brief illness. Anthony was born on March 15, 1940 in New Haven, CT to Paul Fappiano and Josephine, previously residing in Hamden, CT. He attended and graduated from Fairfield University and Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Fappiano was employed by St. Raphael's Hospital, retiring in 1992. Anthony Paul Fappiano, MD, age 74, husband of Olive Fappiano, of Madison passed away unexpectedly on May 3rd, at Yale New Haven Hospital after a brief illness. Anthony was born on March 15, 1940 in New Haven, CT to Paul Fappiano and Josephine, previously residing in Hamden, CT.
He attended and graduated from Fairfield University and Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Fappiano was employed by St. Raphael's Hospital, retiring in 1992. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the US Army. He was a parishioner of St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church as well as active in Madison Lions Club, American Legion, and Knights of Columbus *4th degree).
Anthony was a lifelong resident of Madison. He married Olive and they made their home in Madison. He was a devoted husband and father who cherished time spent with family. In addition to raising their children, he maintained his career as a Pathologist. He had a loving and gentle nature with a great sense of humor. He was predeceased by his wife and parents.
He is survived by and will be dearly missed by his daughter, Susan Fappiano, Brother Paul Fappiano and his wife Stephanie of Branford, two sisters; Joyce Warzecha of Hamden, Joanne Laporta and her husband Andy of Nevada, and many nieces and nephews.
Anthony's family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Madison House's staff for their wonderful care and to Smilow Caner Center, and Friends and Neighbors for their many acts of kindness and support during his illness. Visitation hours will be May 7th from 4-7pm at the Swan Funeral Home in Madison. Funeral Services will begin at 8:30am at the funeral home, followed by the Funeral Mass at 9:30am in St. Margaret's Church. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in the West Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his memory may also be made to Smilow Cancer Hospital and Madison House.
