Norwich-Anthony G. "Gotch" Gromko, Jr. went into the arms of his higher power after a courageous battle with cancer on July 10, 2013. Gotch was the son of the late Mildred (Brennan) and Anthony Gromko. Gotch was a star football player while attending Norwich Free Academy in High School. Gotch joined the United States Air Force as a jet engine mechanic for the Strategic Command. He was discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He then worked for 37 years at the Norwich Public Utilities as a gas service repair man. Gotch spent many relaxing retirement hours golfing on a team in Fort Meyers Beach, Florida and locally with his brother Robert. ...
Norwich-Anthony G. "Gotch" Gromko, Jr. went into the arms of his higher power after a courageous battle with cancer on July 10, 2013. Gotch was the son of the late Mildred (Brennan) and Anthony Gromko. Gotch was a star football player while attending Norwich Free Academy in High School. Gotch joined the United States Air Force as a jet engine mechanic for the Strategic Command. He was discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He then worked for 37 years at the Norwich Public Utilities as a gas service repair man. Gotch spent many relaxing retirement hours golfing on a team in Fort Meyers Beach, Florida and locally with his brother Robert. Gotch took great pride in two hole in one shots he made; one for his golf team and one with his brother Robert.
Gotch is predeceased by his brother William and his late wife Lois Hurley Gromko. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Lou Bushnell Gromko, his daughter (by Lois Gromko) Cheryl and her husband Joseph Muscarella, his daughter Toni Marie and her husband Paul Talbot, and his son Michael Frederic and his wife Melissa Gromko. He is survived by his grandchildren Joseph and Nicole Muscarella, Raymond and David Talbot, and Kaila, Brianna, and Anthony Gromko. He is also survived by his brothers David of St. Petersburg, Florida, John and Robert of Norwich as well as many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12th at Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave. in Norwich. On Saturday, July 13th at 10:00 a.m. friends and family will meet at St. Mary's Church, 70 Central Ave, Norwich to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Center for Hospice Care Southeast Connecticut, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360.
