Anthony (Tony) B. Murtha died peacefully surrounded by his family Wed May 8th after a long illness. Tony was born in Hartford, Ct February 20, 1944 and resided in Glastonbury for most of his life.
He was predeceased by his parents Joseph J. and Martha Morris Murtha and his brother Joseph J. Murtha Jr.

He leaves his wife of 36 years, Cyndy Levy of Glastonbury and his daughter Courtney Murtha-Emery of Manchester, his son-in-law Timothy Emery, his grandchildren Richard B. and Phoebe Emery, his sister in law Tammy Levy, his brother-in- law Leonard Funnye, his nieces Jennifer and Caitlin Murtha, Tanisha and Melanie Funnye and several cousins. He also leaves his special friends Brian Neal and Cheryl Mantolesky as well as many other good friends and his cat Pete.

He was the Engineering Manager at Conard Corporation in Glastonbury for 24 years where he will be deeply missed by his co-workers, customers and suppliers. Prior to that Tony worked in retail operations and security management for many years. He served as a medic in the Army Reserves and was a volunteer firefighter for the town of Avon. He graduated from Kingswood Oxford School, attended the College of Holy Cross, the Univ of Hartford and graduated from Tunxis.

Tony had many talents. He was a speed swimmer and lifeguard in his younger years, an excellent cook, photographer, writer, carpenter and plumber. He was also a graphic artist (designed the Conard Corp company logo). He could design and build almost anything. Tony was a rescuer, everyone who knew him could call on him for anything. He was a superb gentleman and intelligent man you could always count on to do the right thing. Tony enjoyed the little things in life and it didn't take much to make him happy. He especially adored spending time with his grandchildren and nieces. He enjoyed reading books and learning and teaching. He also was an avid Uconn Women's Basketball fan .

His family wishes to give a special thanks to Bill Fox and all the associates at Conard Corporation for their kindness, appreciation and respect for Tony, as well as Dr. Menon and the staff at the Wethersfield infusion center. We all love and will miss you, Tony. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
