Obituary

Anthony V. Salas was born January 24, 1957 in Orlando, FL to John V. Salas and Eddie L. Journagan. He left us for his heavenly home on Wednesday, July 2nd 2014 after suffering a heart attack. We loved him dearly, his passing has left a huge hole in our hearts. He was a jolly man, always fun to be with, and loved making everyone laugh and be happy. His father was in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Orlando, FL. His parents returned to Sacramento, CA. His mother later moved to San Francisco, CA where he started first grade at Mission Dolores School. After remarriage his mother and Robert L. Torson moved to San Jose, CA where he attended...

Torson moved to San Jose, CA where he attended grammar school. His family moved to Yakima, WA in 1968 where he attended Athanum Valley Elementary School, and later Carroll High School where he excelled in wrestling before transferring to West Valley High School. After high school he joined the U.S. Army and served in Germany, and returned home to Yakima. He later moved to Sacramento, CA where he and Roberta Edd had his lovely daughter, Maurissa, whom he adored. While attending Sacramento Jr. College he met the love of his life, Lisa A. Raigosa. They had three beautiful children, Ryan, Jessica, and Daniel.

In 2002, after many years battling drug addiction, he was able to turn his life around. He had 3 years clean before his father, John Salas passed away. With the help of many friends in NA he had nine years clean. He began to speak at meetings, attended national NA Conventions and was sharing his experience, strength, and hope at the James Oldham Treatment Center in Yakima, W A.

He also worked with the Yakima "bird lady" Linda McCartney, now deceased, caring for the birds and putting on shows at local elementary schools, nursing homes, and retirement communities. Anthony brought joy to so many faces, he loved life, his family, church, and sharing his knowledge. Tony was a member of the Knights of Columbus. As his family, we were all so very proud of Tony and his accomplishments. Countless people were helped and inspired by his sponsorship. We are going to miss his laughter and "happy" Anthony attitude. We wanted more of him, but know he is in his heavenly home rejoicing as he would want us to do. He loved Jesus and was faithful of daily reading and praying. He would want all of us to receive Jesus in our hearts and serve his heavenly king.

He is survived by his children, Maurissa, Ryan, Jessica, Daniel, and his beloved grandchildren, Dante, Zack and Samatha, his wife Lisa, and his mother Eddie Campbell and his beloved step-fathers Roy Campbell and his family Randal, Brian, Kim, and Rolene; Robert Torson and his family as well as the Salas family, Carmelina, James, Richard and Eleana, his sister, Nita Caton, and brother, Lee Torson (Cherie) and children Brandon, Nicole and Alex.

Donations can be made to the James Oldham Treatment Center and the Union Gospel Mission.
