Anthony Earl Sibert, Sr. was presented with his angel wings on August 26, 2014. In his final days he was surrounded by family and friends with messages of encouragement, faith, laughter, and love. Tony, as he was often called, passed peacefully with no worries or regrets.
Tony was born in Los Angeles, California, on July 23, 1956, to Harold Sibert and Elanor Louise Richards. He and Denise Ji-Ahnte met at the University of California Riverside and three years after graduating, were married on February 4, 1984 in Riverside, California.
Tony received an AA degree in Political Science from Pasadena Community College and a BA degree in Political Science and Administrative Studies at the University of California Riverside.
Some of Tony's critical achievements are the following: He was Founder and Chair of the African American Advisory Council at Highland Elementary, which was a volunteer parent support group working with teachers and staff in assisting at-risk students. He was a Board Member of the University Eastside Community Collaborative. He was a freelance writer and published in the following: The Los Angeles Times & San Bernardino Sun newspapers, Z Magazine and various political articles. After graduating he became the Associate Director for Student Lobby for the University of California Regents in Sacramento and he was the Student Representative of the Executive Committee for the UCR College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Lastly, he was a Staff Writer and Editor for UCR Highlander school newspaper.
Tony is survived by: Denise Ji-Ahnte'-wife, Anthony Jr. - son, Harold Sibert – father, Andrea L. Bell and James A. Bell, Jr, - sister and brother in-laws, James A. Bell, Sr. – father-in-law; Cousins: Susan Kelly, London and Michelle Kelly, Renee Kelly, Tom and Alicia Robinson, Nina Sanders, Deanna Sanders; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Tony will have a visitation on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 9:00-11:00AM with a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM in the Valley View Chapel with burial to follow at Montecito Memorial Park, Colton, California.
