Antonio Abrigo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 13, 2012.

Antonio P. Abrigo passed away, Friday, October 12, 2012 at 1:18pm in Santa Clara, CA at the age of 75. He was born in Tayabas, Quezon, Philippines and was a long time San Jose, CA resident.

He was a graduate of the University of the East in Manila, Philippines, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, major in Accounting. Antonio had a 10-year career as a CPA, internal auditor, and part-time instructor at the Luzonion University in Lucena City, Quezon Province, Philippines. He was also a full time administrative officer at the law office of Congressman Manuel S. Enverga and at the Lucena Development Company. He immigrated to the United States, along with his family in 1973. Antonio practiced his profession at San Francisco State University, Stanford University, and San Jose State University, where he retired in the year 1999.

"Brother Tony," as most people knew him, found his purpose in life serving the Almighty God and our Lord Jesus Christ in the Church of Christ – Iglesia Ni Cristo for 55 years. He held various positions of leadership in the Church for 51 years and was a Head Deacon from 1965 until 2008. He had "fought a good fight, kept the faith, finished the race," and now he is at peace in the Lord.

Brother Tony was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, in-law, brother in the Church, and a dear friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Lydia, of 47 years; son Sam with his wife Cecile and their son Gavin; daughter Analy with her husband Mark and their son Ryan; son David with his wife Eva and their children Aaron and James; and three brothers and four sisters. He maintained a close and loving bond with each of his children and their families. He adored his family, treasured his four grandsons, had a passion for music, travel, photography, and gardening. He left his legacy to his children and grandchildren about God's teachings by reminding them to have "complete trust in God and His supreme power over all creation that He will always provide all good things to His chosen people in these last days." He will be dearly missed by family and friends as his memory will remain in our hearts.

I may have grown up not completely knowing my Tito Tony unlike my other cousins, but I know that he had been a very good person to all of us, like a father to all of his brothers and sisters, especially to my dad.

It breaks my heart not spending time with him even on the last days of his life, but still feels lucky to have him as my Tito.

Tita Lydia, may you take comfort knowing that Tito Tony is watching over you and your family. Condolence.

Your favorite Church Hymnal Song

THIS LAND IS NOT MY TRUE HOME
INC Hymnal Book - Song # 111

Philippians 3:20-21
But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

Thanks you so much ANTON, for so many years that you have been a father to us. We all know that Tatay put himself to rest in December of 1966. Inay passed away the same month of yours in 1993. And you continued guiding our family in HOPE, in FAITH

Words alone cannot express our sympathy on the untimely death of your beloved husband, father, brother and friend. To say that his time with us was far too short is an understatement. The reality is that he will be sorely missed by all who loved and knew him.

No doubt the outpouring of sympathy you have received since his parting has been of some consolation. Hopefully it will serve as a reminder to you of how well-loved and liked he was.

I hope that you and your family will find peace and comfort in knowing that his suffering is over and that his just rewards await him.

May God bless you and your wonderful family.

Our Dear Sister Lydia and family

Our sincerest sympathy we extend to your family.
Our departed Brother Tony had many noble and commendable characteristics. All of us have a sense of loss and feel a mutual sorrow but we would like you to know that we remember with loving concern.

May you be comforted by these words of God through Apostle Paul " Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." Philippians 4:8
Until we meet again in the Holy City, Brother Tony.

October 17, 2012

Dear sister Lydia and family,

We are saddened by your great loss. You are all in our prayers and may our Great God give you the strength to accept His divine will for brother Tony.
For He said: For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing.
Also their love , their hatred and their envy have now perished.
Never more will they have a share in anything done under the sun.
( Eccl. 9:5-6)
We who are still living under the sun, should remember God's wisdom which King
Solomon said: To everything , there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.
A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and to pluck out what is planted
A time to kill and a time to heal
A time to break down and a time to build up
A time to weep and a time to laugh
A time to mourn and a time to dance
A time to cast away stones and a time to gather stones
A time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing
A time to gain and a time to lose
.A time to keep and a time to throw away
A time to tear and a time to sew
A time to keep silence and a time to speak
A time to love and a time to hate
A time of war and a time of peace
( Eccl. 3:1 -8)

Today is a time of loss. A time of losing to this earth a very special brother and a true friend to many . But tomorrow is a time to gain. Brother Tony is only sleeping and he will wake up on the second coming of our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. His temporal rest will add more inspiration to all of us who are in the true service to God- to finish also our course, our race of faith until the end. Because Apostle Paul said:

I have fought a good fight . I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Finally there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord , the righteous judge will give to me on that day and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. (II Tim. 4:7-8)

Yes, It is time to mourn, weep and contemplate . But may the words of God always comfort and ease all the pains of letting someone dear to all of us to rest in peace and state of blessedness.

“ For if we believe thatJesus died and rise again even so, God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.” ( I Thess. 4:14)

Life is short and fragile. It has no guarantee.
It is like a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Let us be wise.
Let us do good by remembering and obeying the voice of our God. Love Him with all our
hearts , all our mind and all our soul .Let us serve Him sincerely while it is day because
night is coming when no one can work anymore. Let us love one another not only in words but more in deeds because we will pass this way but once . For God said:
For dust you are and to dust you shall return.
But there is a promise to those who die in the true service of the Lord:

“Here is the patience of the saints. here are those who keep the commandments of God
and the faith of lesus. Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, write, blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on, Yes says the Spirit that they may rest from their labors and their works follow them ( Rev. 14:12-13)

Our brother Tony now rested from all pains and hardship in this life. We are going to
miss him in the flesh but his memories will linger in our hearts until the end of our life.

Again, our deepest condolence.

Love and prayers,
Brother Roger , Sister Flor , Florgel and Mark Valdez – Boston Local, NESB
