Antonio Fedalizo Acosta, of San Jose, passed away in the early morning of May 29, at home after fighting a three year battle with Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS). He was born February 20, 1955, in Quezon City, Manila Philippines, the son of the late Marita Fedalizo and Piodecimo Acebedo Acosta. He was the youngest of 7 siblings at the age of 56, and is survived by his loving wife Catherine and his son and daughter, Vincent Earl and Andrea Mae Acosta.
A Graduate of the Philippines Women's University and bearer of a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Accounting. Shortly after enlisting in the Army he met the love of his life in the summer of 1976 before leaving for training. They would later be married in Bamberg, Germany in 1978 and would return to Guam to raise his children. Serving 21 years in the Army and National Guard he retired in 2003 as Sergeant First Class and went home to Candelaria, Zambales Philippines to build the house and garden he'd always dreamed of. After five years in happy retirement he was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease and moved to California to reunite and spend his remaining years with the family he loved.
He was a man of quiet discipline, a lover of classic rock, and an avid gardener who shared a love of cooking with his family and friends. He is, and always will be, loved and missed.
Arrangements under the direction of Lima Family Milpitas-Fremont Mortuary, Fremont, CA. He will be laid to rest and interred back home in the Philippines.

My most fondest memory I have of Kuya Tony was when we were jogging on the beach in Zambales. It was in the summer of 1999. Kuya Tony was setting the pace as we jogged up and down the beach near Libertador. As we finished off our jog with some stretches we were approached by one of the locals who asked if I was a boxer and if Kuya Tony was my coach. We both got a good laugh out of it. From that moment on he was no longer Kuya Tony, but Coach Tony. Coach was a cousin I could truly look up to. I will miss him, but will hold the memories of him close to my heart.

Our condolences to Acosta family. We have been one of those lucky ones who got to know uncle tony through my childhood. He is one of my inspiration for being a smart and disciplined man. Through auntie cathy, we met a very kind man that is always willing to listen and share things to us. Strolling at the mall, food tripp'n everywhere as long as its possible. He is a jolly person that easily manage every situation properly. We will miss you uncle tony.

The first time I met Uncle Tony, I was intimidated because of the stories I had heard about him: military dad, strict, stern...I'm glad that I had the opportunity to get a chance to know him and refute those initial impressions. He was an avid music man, with many of the same favorites as my own dad. He was a hard worker, a jokester, and made the best fried pork chops (amongst other things). He was always thoughtful with his words. When he spoke, we all listened. There were many great things that made up who he was, but first and foremost, he was a family man with a warm heart and compassion for those around him. His family was his life, and they reciprocated, especially in the last years of his life. You could feel the love in the house every time you walked in. That tells you a lot about Uncle Tony…there are many that love him and we are all at a loss. Uncle Tony, until we meet again.

How does one discuss the passing of a friend? Not with fear or regret, but by celebrating life...my friends life and how Tony has enriched my life by being a part of my life and allowing me to be a part of his life. By remembering all of the good times, the bad times and in-between times that Tony & I shared, how those times enriched our lives and the lives of our children and families. It is these memories and the way they have shaped our perspective on lifes daily events... good, bad and in-between that will always honor Tony, always make him "present" in our lives and the lives of our families as time moves on forever. Our bodies may not last as long, but the memories and influences will go on forever. This is eternal life. Esta later, Tony, until we meet again for that next formation in heaven, HOOAH!
