Arlene Mary (Keller) Aldenderfer,of Port Orange, passed away at her home on June 9, 2013. She was born, January 8, 1917 in Lynn, Massachusetts to Henry and Florence Keller. Her dad died when she was 9 years old, the eldest of 4 children. She was raised in Williamsport Pennsylvania and on April 7, 1942, she married John "Jack" Aldenderfer. After four years as an Army couple the pair settled in Williamsport and raised 4 children. Arlene was primarily a mom and homemaker, but she also worked for the Williamsport Area School District for 20 years. She and Jack retied to Port Orange in 1978 where they became active as volunteers at the Port Orange library and the newly founded Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. Arlene was quietly efficient. She enjoyed playing cards and entertaining friends. She was an outstanding cook and no one left their home hungry. Arlene is survived by the one and only love of her life for 71 years, Jack, and 4 children: J. Michael and his wife Jackie of Port Orange; David and his wife Michaline of Williamsport, Pa.; daughters Judy and Rita of Port Orange. She also has 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be held 8:30 am Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Our Lady of Hope in Port Orange. Interment will follow at Volusia Memorial Park, Ormond Beach. Thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. Arlene was a wonderful, kind, thoughtful woman and an outstanding volunteer at the Port Orange Library. Her lovely, melodious voice spoke to thousands of patrons as she fielded questions and called reserves for many years. She will truly be missed.
