Arthur John Wiesner, age 89, of Bastrop, passed away on June 11, 2017 in Elgin.
He was born on January 5, 1928 in Coupland, Texas to Emil and Lena (Schlabs) Wiesner. He served in the United States Army from 1948 until 1952. While in the Army he was stationed in Germany and worked as an occupational therapist. On September 19, 1952 he married Marie Lewis. Arthur was employed for over 30 years with Continental Can Company.
He began his career with them in Galveston and worked in Houston and Longview, where he retired. After his retirement, he and Marie moved to Bastrop, where they made their home. He was a lifelong member of both the S.P.J.S.T. and the V.F.W. He enjoyed spending time gardening and working in his yard and loved to polka dance.
Arthur is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Marie, who passed away in 2013; his son, Harold C. 'Hal' Williams, Jr. who passed away in 1988; his sister, Elnora Russell; twin brother, August Wiesner and brother, Leslie Wiesner; and his grandson, Kristopher Wiesner who passed away in 2014. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, Mitch Wiesner and Randy Wiesner; grandchildren, Jeremy, Gabe, Kory, and Randy Wiesner, Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Nya Wiesner and Skylar Delaney-Wiesner.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, June 15, 2017 in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. Graveside services with military honors will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop.
