ARTHUR EARNEST HOWARD, 74, Harrisburg, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014, in Golden Living Center, Camp Hill. Born September 3, 1939, in Montgomery, Alabama, he was the son of the late Earnest Howard and Alberta Jackson Dimbo. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Grace M. Carr Howard and his step-father, Alphonso Dimbo. He served honorably in the U. S. Navy and attended Tuskegee Institute and Alabama State College. ARTHUR EARNEST HOWARD, 74, Harrisburg, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014, in Golden Living Center, Camp Hill.

Born September 3, 1939, in Montgomery, Alabama, he was the son of the late Earnest Howard and Alberta Jackson Dimbo. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Grace M. Carr Howard and his step-father, Alphonso Dimbo.

He served honorably in the U. S. Navy and attended Tuskegee Institute and Alabama State College. He was a former employee of the Harrisburg School District, Hall's Trucking, and Amway, retiring from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Arthur was an entrepreneur of many trades, doing things he loved and generating extra income. He was a former member of the NAACP, American Legion, and AFSCME, where he served as a Steward and officer.

Arthur was an avid gardener, fisherman, golfer, handyman, grill master, and fancily known as the AVON man.

He is survived by his daughters, Taika R. Howard, of Pine Lake, GA, Sharon Howard, and Shanta Howard, both of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Maiika Henley of Montgomery, Alabama, Treysean W. Roebuck and Olivia G. Roebuck of Harrisburg, and Amir K. Howard, of Harrisburg; his brother, LT Dimbo of Winston-Salem, NC, brother Anthony Dimbo, and his wife, Natharine , sister-in-law, Ann Cooke, sister-in-law, Evelyn Wilson and her husband Albert, all of Montgomery, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.

Family will receive guests in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry Street, Harrisburg, on Monday, May 19, 2014, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 1:00 pm. A repass will be held at Bethesda Mission Youth Center (Shamrock Center), 1438 Herr Street, Harrisburg, PA 17103.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his wife's name, to the Kidney Foundation of Central PA, 4813 Jonestown Rd, Suite 101, Harrisburg, PA 17109.
