I am so sorry to hear of Art's passing.
I was his fellow classmate and "girlfriend" at Acalanes High School in Lafayette, Ca.
Even at that time Art was modest about the skills he had, academic and athletic.
My family and I were certain that some day he would become President of the United States.

Art was the model of a Rhodes Scholar – academically accomplished, a Heptagonal discus champion, the Harvard shot put record holder and, later, a successful lawyer, President of the Friends of Harvard Track, and always a true gentleman. Even as his health was failing, he remained kind, dignified and intellectually disciplined and curious, reading French literature with a Larousse dictionary by his side. It was a privilege to know him.

My deep condolences to the Siler family. Art taught many of us at the firm by example and you must know that he was much adored. A tremendous example he was - sensible, sharp, and good natured. And he was also extremely good company. His elegant, smart and clever manner of turning phrases or telling stories would bring tears from laughter. He will be much missed.

I spent much time on Heath Hill where they lived. My grandmother lived next door. Juliet and I played all the time with my brother Scott and I. Art taught me how to play tennis on his court in his backyard. I remember the entire family very fondly. My sympathies to you all.

I had the pleasure of sitting near Mr. Siler at Ropes for many many years. He was such a gentle, caring man and truly a great colleague to everyone.
