ARTURO ARRIAGA, age 74, of Houston, Texas, passed away Monday, July 23, 2012. He was born on April 23, 1938, in Dewalt, Texas, to Rosa Maria Mendoza Arriaga and Antonio Lopez Arriaga Sr. Arturo graduated from Missouri City, High School in 1957. He served in the United States Air Force for twenty-three years and retired as Master Sargent in Civil Engineering. Arturo received numerous ribbons, medals and honors throughout his career in the USAF, with the highest being the Meritorious Service Medal. . ARTURO ARRIAGA, age 74, of Houston, Texas, passed away Monday, July 23, 2012. He was born on April 23, 1938, in Dewalt, Texas, to Rosa Maria Mendoza Arriaga and Antonio Lopez Arriaga Sr. Arturo graduated from Missouri City, High School in 1957. He served in the United States Air Force for twenty-three years and retired as Master Sargent in Civil Engineering. Arturo received numerous ribbons, medals and honors throughout his career in the USAF, with the highest being the Meritorious Service Medal. . He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church, in Houston, for many years. Arturo loved fishing but didn't go often, crossword puzzles, maps, atlases, gardening, playing the lottery, and a good cup of coffee, and always had a good corny joke to tell. Arturo loved his family dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cynthia Torres-Ocasio; and brothers, Carlos, Rafael, and Mike Arriaga. Arturo is survived by his loving wife, Elba Marcial Arriaga; children, Angela Maria Arriaga, Natalie Torres-Inman, and Edward Xavier Torres; and grandchildren, Edwin Ocasio, Daniel Ricardo Ocasio, Jason Ocasio, Jessica Ocasio-Scott, Giselle Estrella Mercado, Korie Rique Torres, Kylie Rae Torres, Marquis Antonio Carlos Jorge Arriaga, Kenneth Ansel Barton IV and Joseph Anthony Christopher Haechton. A Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, on Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Earthman Southwest Chapel, Stafford, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, on Monday, July 30, 2012, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Missouri City. Rite of Committal will immediately follow at Houston National Cemetery, Houston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United States Veterans Association, at www.usva.org/donations, or to St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Ministries, at www.seascatholic.org/giving.
