Obituary

Arvilla Hawks (Bennett) Bahn, 99, a life-long resident of Ellensburg, died October 14, 2012. Arvilla was born May 2, 1913 in Ellensburg, where she also grew up and attended schools. She and Kenneth Hawks, Sr. owned the Blue Plate Café in Kittitas and Y Grill in Ellensburg. After retirement, she managed and was the head cook of the Moose Lodge kitchen in Ellensburg for many years. Arvilla was a member and officer of the Women of the Moose and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed needlework and baking for family and friends. Arvilla was born May 2, 1913 in Ellensburg, where she also grew up and attended schools.

She and Kenneth Hawks, Sr. owned the Blue Plate Café in Kittitas and Y Grill in Ellensburg. After retirement, she managed and was the head cook of the Moose Lodge kitchen in Ellensburg for many years.

Arvilla was a member and officer of the Women of the Moose and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed needlework and baking for family and friends. Arvilla also enjoyed gardening, especially her roses.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Lynch of Quincy, WA; son, Leonard "Lenny" Hawks (Mary Ann) of Ellensburg, WA; stepdaughter, Mary LaFond (Maynard) of Malta, MT; sister, Violet McCullough of Ellensburg, WA; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Kenneth F. Hawks, Sr. and Elmer R. Bahn; son, Kenneth F. Hawks, Jr.; and sisters, Adeline Fischer and Frances Fields.

A memorial service will be held at the Ellensburg Moose Lodge at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2012.
