So sorry to read that Aunt Arvilla passed on. She was a very special aunt to me. She even remembered me on my 60th birthday and sent me a cross stitched card. My Mom field yesterday and was trying to tell Arvilla when we found her obituary online.

Mom was more than my Mother. She was my best friend. We talked every day on the phone. Most of the time it was to just check in on each other and find out what was going on. She would always start by saying, "Well, I got my chores done, so now I'll read or sew until tonight when I play cards or BBQ or sew." Chores always meant taking care of the ladies at Nokomis. I think we counted that over the 20 years she lived there, she took care of 14 women who depended on her from everything from getting them up, to putting them back to bed. I will miss her.

When I started college at the U OF Minnesota in 1956 - I spent many hours with Arvilla and Arne on the weekend. Scrabble, crossword puzzles, card games, and always good food - kept me from becoming homesick. We went for drives, (toured a lot of houses, but they took their time before they moved out of the way of progress) I remember our times together fondly. Arvilla and I were "favorites" of our Aunt Emma and we talked about that honor often. Sorry cousins - i expect you all knew that.

Arvilla was my role model when I was growing up. She was tall and I was tall and she encouraged me to be proud of my height and walk tall and erect. So sorry she had to have cancer at the end of her life.
