BOSSIER CITY, LA – Aubrey M. Stokley, age 94, went to be with the Lord on April 17, 2014. He was born in Silas, Alabama, March 28, 1920, to Joseph A. and Verna Jackson Stokley. At the age of 16, Aubrey left home to join the Civilian Conservation Corps. He later joined the Unted States Marine Corps and served in the South Pacific Theater during WWII, where he was a Rifle Marksman. Upon military discharge, he settled in the Shreveport-Bossier area in 1946, where he met his wife of 67 years, Lillie C. Stokley. BOSSIER CITY, LA – Aubrey M. Stokley, age 94, went to be with the Lord on April 17, 2014. He was born in Silas, Alabama, March 28, 1920, to Joseph A. and Verna Jackson Stokley.

At the age of 16, Aubrey left home to join the Civilian Conservation Corps. He later joined the Unted States Marine Corps and served in the South Pacific Theater during WWII, where he was a Rifle Marksman. Upon military discharge, he settled in the Shreveport-Bossier area in 1946, where he met his wife of 67 years, Lillie C. Stokley. Mr. Stokley retired from City Service Oil Company after 26 years of service and from the Bossier Parish School Board after 11 years.

In 1970, he and his wife became owners of Azarue's in Bossier City. He was a faithful member of the Pentecostals of Bossier City, serving as a board member, Sunday school teacher, choir member and head usher. He always had a great love for his church, pastors and church family, especially the children.

Mr. Stokley loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed his horses and was a member of Bossier Parish Sheriff's Posse and the Bossier Riding Club. He also loved any and all animals and took care of many stray pets.

Aubrey is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lillie Cox Stokley; daughters, Sharon Thwing (husband Ronald) and Rebecca Stokley Giddens; three grandsons who were his pride and joy, Wesley Aubron Thwing, Taylor Aubrey Giddens, and Skylar Blaine Giddens. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Services for Mr. Stokley will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, April 21, 2014, at The Pentecostals of Bossier City, officiated by Rev. Jerry Dean, Pastor, assisted by Rev.Shannon Stanley. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Honoring Mr. Stokley as pallbearers are Marc Wilson, Michael Marcus, Wesley Thwing, Ronald Thwing, Skylar Giddens, and Taylor Giddens. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Hodges, J.C. Grant, W.T. Scott, Sr., Travis Duncan, Jack Durr, and Richard R. Smith.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Global Missions of the Pentecostals of Bossier City.
