Uncle Augie, I remember the time you came to my grade school to get me out of some trouble to talk to my Principal. You smiled and told me, "Not to worry." I'll always remember that smile!

I was truly blessed to have known such a great mentor and person such as Gus. His personality used to light up the room when we out to dine with other colleagues from West Essex. He will truly be missed not only by his many colleagues including myself, but also by the many students whose lives he touched throughout the years. Rest in peace, my friend.

Gus was a friend of my father's while growing up in newark and my principal at west essex. He was a man of great love for his profession and of great humor. I'm not sure that his friendship with my father helped or hurt in those situations when i had to visit 'Uncle Augie'. His office was my favorite classroom in the whole school. He will be missed.

Mr. Belotti always had time for those of us who attended West Essex. Over the years, he became my friend and mentor. After graduation, we'd meet for lunch from time-to-time, and when I was getting into my 30s and still calling him Mr. Belotti, he'd say, "Danny, I've known you for 20-years now. We're friends. Call me Gus." Given the way we were raised, I couldn't, so he remained Mr. Belotti. He came into my life, as our Assistant-Principal, at a time when I needed some extra guidance. I'm proud to have called him my friend and mentor and will miss him greatly. Thank you Gus. Rest in peace.

My memories of Augie go back to the days when he helped on his father's grocery truck duriing his summer vacations. He used to get hollered at by Joe for taking breaks at our kitchen table when he should have been out working the truck. He was already a wonderful guy back then. He left many fond memories with the Gibson family on Belleville Ave. in Bloomfield. Please accept our sympathy.

My son Dan Mattie was always in Gus's office and they became friends after he graduated. Meeting him for lunch over the years. Gus was wonderful at the time of my son's life in high school. I appreciated all he did for my son.
Gus never knew the impact he had on my son but it was life changing and God Bless him then and now may he rest in peace. Sincerely Helen Mattie Senmartin (Dan's Mom)

So sorry to hear the sad news, my condolences to the entire Belotti family. Mr B was such a great man and an amazing educator. I was lucky to have many great teachers and administrators in my years at West Essex, but Mr. B was right up at the top of that list. I'll never forget all this man did for me in 8th and 9th grade. We will never forget him and all the lives he touched at West Essex. Thank you Mr. B and may you rest in Peace.
