Aurora Armijo passed away September 29, 2012 at NCMC while under Hospice Care surrounded by her loving family.
Aurora was born April 5, 1925 in El Cerito, New Mexico to Lucio and Isabelita Torres. She was one of eight daughters and two sons.
Aurora married Eliseo Armijo on April 6, 1942 in Las Vegas, New Mexico. After living in New Mexico for several years the family moved to the Greeley, Colorado area in 1951.
She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Greeley.
Aurora was a very loving and giving person and would always welcome anyone into her home with a smile. She will be dearly missed by her family. Her joy was having her family and friends around her sharing her stories and many memories of her childhood and making new memories with her family.
Aurora had a genuine green thumb which could be seen in her garden, flower beds, house plants and especially in her roses.
Aurora was a fulltime mother and throughout the years she helped with the care of the grand and great-grand children. Aurora was happy spending time with her family and watching the Broncos and Rockies play. She loved to travel with her family, especially to visit family.
Aurora was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, Eliseo "Shorty", who passed away in 2000, three sons, Arturo, Lucio and Richard, a grandson, Bobby, daughter-in-law, Kathie, six sisters, Lola, Carmen, Carlotta, Avelina, Amalia and Lucy (Torres) and two brothers, Jose and Epifano.
Aurora is survived by daughter-in-law Kathy (Art); sons, Robert (Mary) and Jose; daughters, Geraldine and Esther (Rick) and sister, Rosalia. She also is survived by 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. Aurora also had a beloved dog, "Shorty" who has been her companion and was very special to her.
The family would also like to thank Hospice for all their wonderful care and also the support they gave to the family during these last few months.
Friends may visit from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Stoddard Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. both at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.

We enjoyed knowing Aurora and her son Lucio. Roy and Mary Mitchell sold vegetables out of their front yard in Evans, and they enjoyed visiting with her. After Roy died, Aurora would come to Evans, with Lucio, and visit with Mary--she really made Mary's days brighter. Thank you, Aurora, for your kindness and friendship. Sheri Mitchell Sullivan

My great grandma, you are the kind of woman who loves her family so much and would do anything for them. I believe that everything happens for a reason and I don't understand and I am not sure if I ever will. I wonder why God took you from us, but he has his reasons and I know you are in a better place now. I miss you so much and I think about you everyday. I appreciate all the wonderful things you have done for me for the past 20 years. I miss you so much and even though you are gone, it is never a goodbye. I will see you again someday and till then, you take care up in heaven. Watch over all of us and be our beautiful guardian angel. You will never be forgotten, I promise you that. I love you so much and thank you for being the best great grandma anyone can ever ask for. You will always have a special place in my heart that can never be replaced by anyone. You are everything a great grandma should be and more. I know you will be looking down, watching over me and protecting me. Thank you for everything and me (your great grandchild) loves and misses you more then anything in this word. And always, you will be part of me and I will forever feel your strength when I need it most. I can't say this to your face, but I know that you can hear me. I am so blessed to of had you in my life! I love you.
