Barbara (Petering) Violett, 73, of Kansas City, Missouri, left her earthly home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on March 26, 2015, at NorthCare Hospice / NKC Hospital after a very short illness. She was born July I, 1941 in Warrensburg, Missouri to Wilford and Vivian (Hall) Petering, who preceded her in death. On September 27, 1959, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Vernon Violett, at First Baptist Church in Warrensburg. Barbara was a graduate of Warrensburg High School Class of 1959. All who knew Barbara have realized her ongoing dedication helping to organize class reunions. Her interests include being an avid fan and supporter of the Warrensburg High School basketball. Barbara enjoyed extensive traveling, community activities, retiree functions, and visiting with family and friends. Barbara retired from Hallmark Cards after 34 years of service. She was an active member of the Gracemor Christian Church in Kansas City, Missouri, as well as a group of senior citizens known as the Thursday Night Out Group. Barbara is survived by her husband, Vernon, of the home; brother, Jerry (Karen) of Highland, Kansas; sister, Debra (Bret) Kuss, of Corbin, KY; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family who loved her dearly. Visitation will be 1:00-3:00pm, Sunday, March 29, 2015 at White Chapel Funeral Home, with Pastors Phil Willoughby, Jerry Petering and Cliff Hubbard officiating. Funeral service will be held following the visitation. Interment will be Monday, March 30, 2015 at Memorial Gardens, in Warrensburg, Missouri. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Gracemor Christian Church or American Cancer Society.

Absolutely wonderful people, both Vernon and Barbara. Have worked with both of them at Hallmark, and maintained contact with them after their retirement, and have received nothing but support and friendship. So sorry for Vernon of a loss of such a beautiful sole mate. Will miss Barbara tremendously at the upcoming Corporate Challenge Kick Off where she and Vernon have been such valuable help. Goodbye to a wonderful person.
