Deepest condolences to Barbie's family, from an old friend, much younger than her, who admired her beauty as a boy. She lived in the same building as my family, in San Isidro, Lima, and I flatter myself that she liked me. I got to know Juan briefly, and maybe their two girls too; I don't recall.
But I do remember that she used to comment on how I was growing, and that she said I was a handsome lad. It sounds vain, but I needed that from a beautiful woman, and she fit that bill very nicely indeed.
A darling girl, kind and pretty and generous, I regretted her departure from Lima as I never saw her again.
Am writing my memoirs now, and was hoping to find her online.
Such was not meant to be.
Deepest condolences. She obviously died far too young. The world's now a much poorer place.
