Barbara Archung, age 94, passed away on Thursday, 12/2/2010, at Salem Hospital after suffering a stroke on Monday, 11/29/2010. Barbara grew up in Norwood where she graduated from Norwood High School. She married Ralph O. Archung (deceased in 1996) of Beverly where they raised their family.

Barbara was a loving wife and mother and was devoted to her Baha'i faith. She prayed daily for all of her family and friends. Barbara was a noted Electrologist on the North Shore during her working years as well as a dedicated community worker and leader on both the Beverly Historical Association and the Ryal Side Civic Association.

She will be remembered by her many friends in the Marblehead Senior Housing Group where she has resided for the last fourteen years and worked continuously to simply make that a more beautiful and pleasant place to live. Barbara was noted for her generosity and loving kindness. She was self endowed with a positive attitude and was a pioneer in health living. Her family was raised in the 1940's and 50's with only natural foods that did not include: white bread, trans-fats or artificially processed meats. No alcohol, cigarette or profane language ever crossed her lips. She would attribute part of her secret to longevity as daily dose of apple cider vinegar. Barbara was a remarkable woman, way ahead of her time. And she will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara; sons, Ralph and Barry; two grandchildren, John Thomas Archung, Elizabeth (Archung) Wilson; and a brother, Dominic Giampa.

A funeral service will be held at the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead on Sunday at 3PM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visitation will begin at 2PM. A private burial will be on Monday in Central Cemetery, Randolph. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Marblehead Council on Aging, 10 Humphrey St., Marblehead, MA 01945.

"Aunt Barbara, I am glad you were a part of my life from the day I was born, and to my cousins Ralph (and Jude), Barry (and Rick), and Barbara, I hope we can..." Stephen Mugglebee (San Diego, CA)
