Barbara was a terrific mother-in-law. She was always funny, always welcoming, always interesting to talk to. I loved her family stories! She could be the most gracious Bostonian matron or tell the filthiest joke and I loved all of it.
She made my wedding dress and it was 100 times better than anything offered for sale.
I will miss you, Barbara and I am so thankful to have known you!

Dear Barb,
Heard about your passing today, July 4th, from An Kane. Until I pass, I will miss you very much but we´ll meet again in that Cape Cod in Heaven when I do.
We had a lot of fun together. You are a good friend and I don´t need all my fingers to count my good friends - and now there is one less.
Until we meet again...
Love,
Luke

A good friend and sharer of genealogy and gossip. She said we were fifth cousins and we pondered over this many times. Miss her already

A great friend, cousin, researcher, cohort, and someone who shall not soon be forgotten - I will certainly miss the phone calls and comparing of notes for the Rich Family Association. She had an infinite knowledge of the family, and we have lost a person with a wealth of information. Barb, you will be missed. Liz Beyus, RFA Secretary

Barbara's relationship to me was distant, but as an active member of the Rich Family Association, she was family. We will miss her.

Such sad news for the greater Rich Family. As a long time member and Editor Emerita, Barbara Baker meant so much the the Rich Family Association. Barbara was one of very few members who had been active on the RFA Board of Directors or committees since the 1960s.
Barbara served as editor of the "Kinfolk" newsletter for the RFA for many years, only recently stepping aside, but still contributing articles and information on a regular basis. Her wealth of knowledge, inquisitive nature, willingness to work hard and sometimes-cantankerous attitude was always accompanied by a big laugh and a mischievous gleam in her eye.
For me -- a relatively new member of the organization (1992) and current president of the RFA -- she has always been a part of the group. She sometimes struggled with email and computers in general, but could out-research most people half her age in traditional methods.
A hundred years from now, when some budding genealogist comes across her name on a family tree, I hope they will take a moment to ponder what kind of person this Barbara Baker was...and what she may have meant to her family and friends. Perhaps they will visit her grave site and spend a few moments thinking about the people who trod the shores of Cape Cod a hundred years earlier, seeking their roots.
She will be sorely missed by her friends in the Rich Family Association, an organization to which she gave so much of her time, talent and resources.
We wish her Godspeed as she joins a long list of Rich family ancestors who have completed their work here on earth.
