Private graveside services will be held at Edgell Grove Cemetery for Barbara Bigelow Balfour
who died at St. Patrick Manor in Framingham, Thursday, December 30, 2010. She was 93 and the wife of the late David Balfour. Born in Framingham May 2, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Margaret (Sears) Bigelow. Mrs. Balfour was a graduate of St. Catherine's SCHOOL in Baltimore, Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Prior to retirement she worked for many years as a reporter for the Boston Globe, The New York Times and the Worcester Telegram and Gazette. Mrs. Balfour leaves her daughter, Margaret B. Gilmore of Franklin; her son, David Montgomery Balfour of Alexandria, VA; her son and daughter in law, Donald J. and Janet Balfour of St. Louis, Mo. She was the mother in law of the LATE Daniel J. Gilmore and is also survived by her grand children; Daniel Gilmore of Franklin, Laura Gilmore Fairchild and her husband, Michael, of Norfolk and Abigail Balfour of St. Louis. Memorial donation should be directed to the Bryn Mawr Scholarship Fund,
