Barbara J. Brant age 76 of New Freeport died Thursday, February 3, 2011 in the home of her daughter, Melissa Brant of New Freeport, with whom she had been residing. Although she had been in declining health, her death was unexpected. She was born October 21, 1934 in Cameron, WV, a daughter of the late Bernard and Lucy Chambers Mason. On April 29, 1952 she married John (Ed) Brant who died April 19, 2010. Mrs. Brant was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church at Waynesburg. She was a devoted homemaker who loved cooking, baking, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She especially loved the excursions she took with her...
Barbara J. Brant age 76 of New Freeport died Thursday, February 3, 2011 in the home of her daughter, Melissa Brant of New Freeport, with whom she had been residing. Although she had been in declining health, her death was unexpected.

She was born October 21, 1934 in Cameron, WV, a daughter of the late Bernard and Lucy Chambers Mason.

On April 29, 1952 she married John (Ed) Brant who died April 19, 2010.

Mrs. Brant was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church at Waynesburg. She was a devoted homemaker who loved cooking, baking, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She especially loved the excursions she took with her sister Carolyn and brother-in-law Kenny.

Surviving are two daughters, Vicky Lynn Scott (Dan) of Jacksonville, FL, Melissa (Missy) Brant of New Freeport; two sons, John Michael Brant (Sue) of New Freeport, and Gregory Brant (Melody) of Cadiz, KY; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer Mathis, Heidi Shobe, Lisa Bennington, Matthew Brant, Megan Miller, Zachary Brant, and Valerie Brant; 9 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Carolyn Richmond (Ken), Beverly Shadd (Charles) both of Cameron, WV, and Judy DeFazio (Carl) of Romney, WV; and a brother Tyrone Mason of Cameron, WV.

Deceased are a granddaughter, Chastity Rettinger; a brother Ronnie Mason; and a sister, Connie Haught.
